COMPUTEX Taipei . . .Shaping the future (Even in the UAE!)
TAIWAN ICT @ GITEX Int’l Press Conference
Dubai, October 15, 2012: From far Formosa, the small group from Taiwan has flown into GITEX on a great mission. They aim to channel Taiwan’s immense ICT output to the world via GITEX.
To make it happen, TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) held the “TAIWAN ICT Int’l Press Conference” on October 15th at the heart of GITEX where they unwrapped 3 goodies, namely:
1) COMPUTEX d&i Awards
2) Press Conference for COMPUTEX TAIPEI
3) TAIWAN Products Launch
It’s clear that COMPUTEX TAIPEI already holds fame at GITEX since the second-day TAITRA-hosted press conference was packed with more than 60 journalists and international visitors.
For many, Taiwan – the home of COMPUTEX TAIPEI, is some mystical island that’s more famed for tea and bicycle. And that’s why the Taiwanese are here to deliver the message that COMPUTEX TAIPEI is Asia’s largest ICT tradeshow situated at the heart of one of the largest suppliers of ICT components and technologies.
In the passing hours word has spread from the conference. Press dispatches have reached the most distant corner of the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East to profile Taiwan as the driving force in ICT.
TAITRA, the organizer of COMPUTEX TAIPEI was represented by Mr. Shyh Perng Chang, Director of Taiwan Trade Center, Dubai. Chang proudly introduced the line-up of ICT-related TAITRA trade shows that include DISPLAY Taiwan, PV Taiwan, TAITRONICS, and of course the flagship COMPUTEX TAIPEI, Taiwan’s biggest tradeshow.
While the UAE has grown up on pumping oil, Taiwan has prospered by putting ICT online. For more than three decades Taiwan has worked its way up from an OEM supplier into a leading design hub, ODM producer and originator of brands. And it’s COMPUTEX TAIPEI where the industry annually turns to profit from the world’s leading ICT procurement hub.
The second-day press conference joined top executives of several global brands to profile trade trends and coming products. This is the place to see AVISION rolling out its MiWand 2L PRO which allows users to scan without a computer or software; GIGABYTE staged its GIGABYTE 11.6’ Convertible Tablet Notebook T2142, MSI featured its latest high-end gaming notebook GT70 and AIPTEK International Inc. showcased its MobileCinema i50S.
GITEX is the second stop for the COMPUTEX d&i awards international tour which comes after IFA in Berlin last month. At GITEX these award-winning products can be seen at Booth No. F8-35, Hall 8 where the best winners are displayed from top ICT creators like Acer, Addon Tech, AIPTEK, Delta, HTC, KYE and Thermaltake.
This is first time for the COMPUTEX d&i awards to be presented at Technology Week in Dubai and it’s already received rave reviews. TAITRA offered a green oasis among this year’s GITEX. And the Taiwan message covered the full spectrum of Big Data, Cloud Security, IT’s growing consumerisation and Digital Strategies.
